Blue Parakeet Rugs Takes Center Stage in Architectural Digest Renovation Feature

Blue Parakeet Rugs has graced the prestigious pages of Architectural Digest for a third time — not that we’re counting! The magazine’s Katherine McLaughlin takes readers inside the drool-worthy renovation of a Spanish Montecito home, an architectural gem that was first featured in Vogue almost a century ago. The homeowners, Justine Roddick and Tina Schlieske, hoped to infuse their personal style into their home while preserving its stunning bones that include beautiful tile work, coffered ceilings, and artistic murals. Enter Tamara Honey of @houseofhoney, a virtuoso who seamlessly honors the home's heritage while creating interior spaces that challenge convention and bring them into the stylish present.

This was actually our first project with House of Honey, and we were shocked and delighted by what they did with vintage Persian rugs. To reflect the homeowners’ love of music, the original bar room became the blue room, a color-saturated bar and music space, in which Jason K. Koharic built a custom stage and draped it with a gorgeous jewel Mahal from Blue Parakeet Rugs. AD notes, “Music played a large role in the design ethos of the project. This influence is prominently on display in the new bar room, which includes a small stage covered in vintage Persian rugs for live music. ‘That room came together in a blink of an eye,’ Roddick says. ‘We were all just so excited about it.’”

The space and the entire home are simply unlike any we’ve seen before, and we can’t wait to work on future projects with these incredible designers after seeing what creativity they brought to this historic treasure.
