CA Home & Design Features Blue Parakeet Rugs in House of Honey Makeover
A star designer, two hyper-cool newlyweds, and Blue Parakeet Rugs combined to create a truly one-of-a-kind Santa Barbara home, and you can see all the delicious pics in a spread in CA Home & Design. The homeowners teamed up with fashion-borne designer and House of Honey founder Tamara-Kaye Honey to outfit their new pad on a nail-biting three-month timeline — and almost entirely remotely! Luckily, it was a match made in design heaven.
We loved working with House of Honey, an all female collective of amazing designers who work all over Pasadena, Montecito and Santa Barbara. This particular project is an ode to color, art, and fun, so of course it had to include a stunning vintage Persian rug. The ruby and blue beauty Honey picked out from Blue Parakeet Rugs is right at home in a pattern-saturated, moody dining room complete with floral wallpaper, neon purple cross (made for their wedding), and a dark, sky-high fireplace. The parade of pattern really makes the minimalist furnishings and lighting pop and draw the viewer in, and it flips the typical formula of neutral walls and riskier furnishings on its head in a delightful way.
The entire home is full of incredible vintage furniture and playful approaches to scale, form, and space that are sure to inspire your next design project. Head over to CA Home & Design for all the gorgeous photos and to learn Tamara-Kaye Honey’s secrets to designing spaces that create joy.
