Houzz Tours a Spanish Blue & Blue Parakeet Rugs Kitchen by Julia Chasman

An aging kitchen in an Alhambra home was brought back to colorful life by expert designer Julia Chasman and a little help from Blue Parakeet Rugs, and Houzz has all the details. When the owner purchased the 1925 era home from her dad, she decided to update her cramped galley style childhood kitchen with color and personal style and reached out to Julia to design the project.

Julia is a favorite of Blue Parakeet Rugs fans — our Instagram post on one of her previous kitchen remodels was one of our most liked posts last year! — and she has a gift for infusing color and fun into a space while keeping it within the historical context of a home. In this kitchen, the beige tile floor was removed revealing antique Douglas fir floorboards, which Julia had restored to a gorgeous burgundy shine. The floor is a perfect backdrop for a vintage crimson runner that nods to the other period touches throughout the space.
