Kim Gordon Reimagines Neil Druckmann's Santa Monica Home with Blue Parakeet Rugs
We’re thrilled to finally share an amazing project that we did with the incredible interior designer Kim Gordon (@kimgordondesigns) for the incredible video game designer, Neil Druckmann (@druckmann), and you can read all about it in the pages of The Hollywood Reporter!
In 2019, Neil bought a two-story contemporary “white box” in Santa Monica. The game designer and co-writer of upcoming HBO series The Last of Us originally hired Kim to bring some life to his WFH office where he was spending most of his time. She ended up “reimagining the entire house,” and we’re proud to say multiple Blue Parakeet Rugs made the cut!
Kim is, of course, near and dear to Blue Parakeet Rugs not only because she’s a sought-after designer but because she was our very first designer client way back when in 2017. There have been many Rug N Rolls at Kim’s clients’ homes since then, including several at Neil’s house. Kim picked out just the right vintage rugs for various spaces, and along with her thoughtful and personalized furnishings and layouts, they helped create a joyful, warm, and visually exciting home that reflects Neil’s interests and collections.
Her attention to how clients actually live in their homes always informs her designs. For example, after observing that the master bath was a high-traffic area, Kim added a couch for seating. As Neil tells THR, “The kids are always coming in here to brush their teeth, and we’ll just hang out. […] Now I can’t even imagine a bathroom without a couch.”
