Blue Parakeet Rugs Fill Celebrity Favorite Hills House

Curbed LA and Architectural Digest both gushed today about a new Hollywood Hills listing with a star-studded pedigree and a number of Blue Parakeet Rugs! The Cahuenga Pass three-bedroom was owned by Mark Ruffalo of Avengers fame, who sold it to Zooey Deschanel and her then-husband, Death Cab for Cutie singer/songwriter Ben Gibbard. Now it’s on the market for the first time since 2012 for $2.985 million.

The nearly 3,000-square-foot home was designed by storied architect Ralph S. Loring in the 1930’s and retains its period details including a sunken living room, trussed ceilings, and windowed French doors that create ample indoor-outdoor space. With three bedrooms, a recording studio, guesthouse, playhouse, and a secluded garden dotted with raised planter beds, the house is charming yet grown-up, just like its celeb owners.

Before it hit the market, the incredible team at A 1000X Better staged the property with thoughtful and delightful detail to its original features. On a rainy Los Angeles day, Blue Parakeet Rugs rolled up in a van full of one-of-a-kind antique rugs picked out just for this project. A large muted runner ties together the dusty pink oblong living room beautifully, unifying the space without distracting from the period fireplace in one corner. In the kitchen, a burnt sienna runner pops on a patterned tile floor and highlights the brass hardware. All of the selected Blue Parakeet Rugs sync the old with the new, giving the home a spacious yet cozy vibe.
