Blue Parakeet Rugs Shine in Arts & Crafts Dining Room by Murphy Deesign
We love designers who have no fear, so we love Dee of Murphy Deesigns, whose color-saturated yet impeccably balanced interiors are the stuff of Pinterest dreams. Dee recently made over her neighbors’ West Adams LA dining room with prominent use of an arts and crafts style William & Morris wallpaper, which she paired with a neutral blush and ivory 19th Century Oushak from Blue Parakeet Rugs. Dee says, “the gorgeous rug is from my fave gal Sheba from Blue Parakeet. [The blush window shades and rug] add warmth and softness to the mostly cool color palette.”
The room is finished with warm wood furniture and textiles that call back to the colors of the wallpaper and the rug, and the stunning result must be seen to be believed. It’s a wonderful testament to the variety of antique rugs — they can be the statement piece of a neutral space or the calming element in a more adventurous composition.
You’ll definitely want to check out Dee’s photos of the dining room, which appeared in both The Wall Street Journal and Home & Gardens. Check out the latter’s “Arts and crafts decor – 12 ways to embrace heritage style” to see this room and other ways to incorporate the style in your space.
